Introduction

Productify ("we," "our," or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our Chrome extension.

Information We Collect

1. Web Browsing Activity

We collect and store the following information about your web browsing:

  • Domain names of websites you visit
  • Time spent on each website
  • Visit counts and timestamps
  • Navigation flows between websites (which sites you navigate from and to)
  • Blocked site access attempts

This data is collected automatically while you browse to provide the core productivity tracking functionality of the extension.

2. Authentication Information

If you choose to use the optional partner accountability feature, we collect:

  • Email address (obtained through Google OAuth/Firebase Authentication)
  • User ID (generated by Firebase for authentication purposes)
Note: Authentication is entirely optional. You can use all core features of the extension (time tracking, blocking, statistics) without signing in.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to:

  1. Track and display your browsing productivity - Calculate time spent on websites, generate charts and statistics
  2. Block distracting websites - Enforce your personal blocklist by redirecting blocked sites
  3. Provide historical analytics - Show your browsing patterns over time (90-day retention)
  4. Enable partner accountability (optional) - Share your daily productivity statistics with accountability partners you explicitly connect with
  5. Sync data across devices (optional, when signed in) - Back up your productivity data to Firebase cloud storage

How We Store Your Information

Local Storage

All browsing data is primarily stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. This includes:

  • Daily activity data (time spent, visits per domain)
  • Your blocked sites list
  • Navigation flow data
  • User preferences (theme settings)

Cloud Storage (Optional)

If you sign in with Google, we store the following in Firebase:

  • Your email address (for authentication)
  • Your productivity statistics (for cross-device sync and partner sharing)
  • Partner connection data (user IDs of connected accountability partners)

Data Retention: We automatically delete local data older than 90 days to manage storage space.

Data Transmission Security

All data transmitted between the extension and Firebase servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS protocols. We use modern cryptography (RSA/AES) to protect your data in transit and at rest.

How We Share Your Information

We DO NOT:

  • Sell your data to third parties
  • Share your data with advertisers
  • Use your data for purposes unrelated to productivity tracking
  • Transfer your data for creditworthiness or lending purposes

We ONLY Share When:

  1. You explicitly connect with a partner - Your daily productivity statistics are shared only with accountability partners you manually add and approve
  2. Required by law - We may disclose information if required by legal process
  3. Security purposes - To investigate abuse or security violations
  4. Service providers - We use Firebase (Google Cloud Platform) to provide authentication and cloud storage services

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google Cloud Platform)

  • Purpose: User authentication and optional cloud data synchronization
  • Data Shared: Email address, productivity statistics (when you sign in)
  • Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

All Firebase SDK libraries are bundled locally within the extension. We do not load remote code.

Your Data Rights

You have the right to:

  1. Access your data - View all collected productivity data through the extension dashboard
  2. Export your data - Use the built-in export feature to download your data as JSON
  3. Delete your data - Clear all local data through the settings page
  4. Disconnect partners - Remove accountability partners at any time
  5. Sign out - Disconnect from cloud sync and delete cloud data

How to Delete Your Data

Local data:

  1. Open the extension
  2. Click the settings icon
  3. Click "Clear All Data"

Cloud data (if signed in):

  1. Sign out of the extension
  2. Your cloud data will be retained for 30 days then automatically deleted

Children's Privacy

This extension is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Data Usage for Advertising

We do NOT:

  • Use your browsing data for advertising purposes
  • Serve personalized, re-targeted, or interest-based advertisements
  • Share your data with advertising networks
  • Allow third parties to read or access your browsing history

Human Access to Data

We do not allow humans to read your personal data except in the following limited circumstances:

  1. You request technical support - With your explicit consent for specific issues
  2. Security investigations - To investigate abuse or security violations
  3. Legal compliance - When required by law
  4. Aggregated analytics - We may review anonymized, aggregated statistics

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

  • Updating the "Last Updated" date
  • Posting a notice in the Chrome Web Store listing
  • Requiring re-acceptance if material changes affect data collection

Limited Use Disclosure

Productify's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We only use the permissions and data we collect to:

  • Provide the single purpose of productivity tracking and website blocking
  • Improve user-facing features explicitly described in our Chrome Web Store listing
  • Enable optional partner accountability features

We do not use or transfer data for:

  • Serving advertisements
  • Determining creditworthiness
  • Any purpose unrelated to productivity tracking
